M. Th. in Bedieningspraktyk as Missionale Transformasie (volledig)

Written by webmeester on . Posted in Kursusse

M.Th. : Ministry in Missional Transformation

The MTh: Ministry in Missional Transformation should be regarded as a discernment journey during which you discover the Triune God’s calling for yourself as a spiritual leader, for the congregation to which you belong and for the community within which the congregation functions. The object of the journey is to address the established churches’ ministry problems by reflecting anew about the existing programmes that are followed. Entrepreneurial church leaders are needed to grapple with these problems within the academic discipline. The outcome should lead to the transformation of a Christendom-institutional way of being church towards becoming a dynamic missional church; from being self-centred towards becoming focused on “the other” and the spiritual and other needs of our society.

You are invited to join a missional study journey!

· Share in the budding opportunities that are developing through missional transformation in Southern Africa.

· Experience spiritual growth with 10 colleagues and 12 ‘lecturers’ over a period of two years.

· Meet for a week three times per year, frequently in another context of ministry and community.

· Work with mentors and, by means of the Internet, debate continuously with the accompanying “tour” group.

· Experience cross-cultural exposure and share in international cooperation with the “Partnership for Missional Church.”

The goal of the MTh programme is the equipping of church leaders in Southern Africa to lead their congregations in a cultural transformation process. This process implies a theological paradigm shift that is much more profound than learning new technical skills. The way of presenting, the learning situation as such and the style of research must embody, demonstrate and facilitate the new paradigm. Leadership is viewed as the product of life in the Trinity, of listening and serving and moving across borders.

Six Modules (Blogs)

A team of two presenters work with the “students” as a group. Six contact sessions (blogs) take place during the two years, during which the study material is offered within new ministry- and community-oriented contexts.

BLOG 1 – Tritinity and identity (missio Dei):

Stellenbosch: 14 -20 February 2009: Prof Nelus Niemandt & Rev Danie Mouton

BLOG 2 – Spirituality:
Somerset West: 13 -19 June 2009: Dr Breda Ludik and Father Fred Hendricks.

BLOG 3 – Discover God in the context:
Port Elizabeth: 26 September – 2 October 2009: Prof Jurgens Hendriks and Rev Danie Mouton

BLOG 4 – The culture of a missional congregation:

Durbanville: February 2010: Drr Nico Simpson, Frederick Marais and Gordon Dames.

BLOG 5 – Missional leadership:

Pretoria: June 2010: Drr Theo Geyser and Marius Nel.

BLOG 6 – Kingdom-directed communities:

George: September -October 2010: Drr Xolile Simon and Christo Thesnaar.

The six modules contribute 50% to the final mark. A thesis contributes the other 50%.

Feedback by students

The presentation was based on experience – not merely of a theoretical nature. The literature’s practice-directed nature is most meaningful.

Upon arrival at the meeting event I was tired, but found the retreat experience to be a highlight. After this, I felt fresh and newly created with new insight and understanding of my calling.

After the week together, I experience myself as being richer and I have more clarity about my role in the congregation and community.

My spirituality is of an active nature but, during my busy schedule, I do not always find the time to pay sufficient attention to it. The time together was a healing experience.

It was good to see how even the presenters attained energy from the interaction.
