The missional church conversation (although different terminology may also be used), is a broad and urgent conversation in which most churches seem to be involved in some way. The report of the World Council of Churches on this theme confirms the importance of the conversation. For example in South Africa, the Dutch Reformed Church, at the last synod meeting, took a formal decision stating that it wants to be a missional church with missional congregations.

This decision must now be implemented – and that is another ball-game. A suggestion is therefore made that a broader open conference is held with participants from different churches in SA (and elsewhere!)

The conference is jointly presented by Ekklesia, an ecumenical centre of the Faculty of Theology, Stellenbosch University and Communitas, a network of services to congregations of the URC Cape and the DRC Western and Southern Cape.
